FMP Final Piece and Photoshoot

My final piece features several key activewear trends from the WGSN AW18/19 trend forecasting, in order to appeal to my target audience, where comfortable, fashionable fitness is essential to their lifestyle. One, solid, block colour is used to stay in keeping with the 'commercial' trend, which will appeal to my target audience as it is easy to wear and on trend. WGSN also refers to the trend of 'saturated brights', where 'the effect is intensified when worn as solid blocks of colour'; my colour scheme included mostly vibrant pinks, as it was a colour that reflected well being and is traditionally associated with femininity, therefore reflecting my concept which focuses on female body image. The garment resembles the commercial trend of the 'leisure dress', where 'future sport and elevated street trends create a range of sport-influenced shapes suitable for day or evening'; this would increase the likelihood of my audience investing in the piece due to its easy wearability.
In addition to this, I used the 'quilted cocoons' 'directional' trend - according to WGSN, 'directional' describes 'fashion forward items', which would allow me to charge premium pricing and stand out among competitors. I have also used an 'exaggerated collar'  and 'matte fabric to balance the exaggerated silhouettes' (also inspired by Chen Peng's collection), which adds to the piece's wearability. Corded lacing was also a major activewear trend, where they worked 'to distort' fits; my concept features distortion and asymmetry through research (such as Cindy Sherman's photography), so I emphasised this using details.
During the photoshoot, I asked the model around halfway through to try some poses that I had collected from Dazed magazine's instagram, as this social media platform and magazine both appeal to my target audience. The carefree poses reflect the nature of my concept, the garment that I created, and also the nature of my target audience.
