FMP Final Piece and Photoshoot

My final piece features several key activewear trends from the WGSN AW18/19 trend forecasting, in order to appeal to my target audience, where comfortable, fashionable fitness is essential to their lifestyle. One, solid, block colour is used to stay in keeping with the 'commercial' trend, which will appeal to my target audience as it is easy to wear and on trend. WGSN also refers to the trend of 'saturated brights', where 'the effect is intensified when worn as solid blocks of colour'; my colour scheme included mostly vibrant pinks, as it was a colour that reflected well being and is traditionally associated with femininity, therefore reflecting my concept which focuses on female body image. The garment resembles the commercial trend of the 'leisure dress', where 'future sport and elevated street trends create a range of sport-influenced shapes suitable for day or evening'; this would increase the likelihood of my audience investing in the piec...

Taking the idea of decorative stitching, I referenced  Giovanni Leoni d’Este's ' Anatomical Table (Evelyn Table) No. 4 ', who uses stitching to show the flow of blood through the human body. As the Evelyn Tables are some of the earliest anatomical preparations in Europe, I presented this on a  page  alongside surgical equipment of ancient tribes and an ancient Egyptian  sculpture of medicine. Therefore, I became insured by Jo Ann Callis' 'Man Doing Push Ups', as the blurred man precariously perched on various furnit...

Tuesday began with a peer feedback session, where we spent ten minutes on each other’s work including feedback time. Some work that inspired me was a dream journal with pop up layers of settings and characters, a journal of occasional entries complimented by mark making to reflect emotions, and illustrations that were photos of drapes with mark making developments on top. After seeing this, I decided that cutting into my pages and producing more pop ups and layers would be a better visual experience through my sketchbook, as my FMP is currently focusing on layering various materials and environments.   The feedback I received was also very useful, as my main issue was that my concept wasn’t obvious, which I need others to tell me as it makes sense in my head. I was confused on how to change this, so spoke to my tutor for advice, where she recommended creating a concept board. I was already aware that my pages did not completely flow, but needed peer feedback to clar...
